We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our team. As a data engineer, you will be building the data foundations that will drive better business decisions in a fast-paced environment, and enable KAYAK to confidently scale user growth initiatives at a global scale. The data engineering team works closely with an international team of data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and marketing experts. As a team built from diverse backgrounds, we are looking for an experienced problem-solver to join us and contribute the strengths of their own experiences and expertise. 

About the position

This role is software engineering focused, and a typical workday involves building software processes that manage high-volume data pipelines. You will extract data from a variety of internal and external sources and APIs, transform and clean data, and produce useful reporting and data interfaces. You will also be responsible for orchestration of our data pipelines, as well as contributing to data warehouse design and data management best practices.

Our tech stack mainly consists of Python, Airflow, Snowflake, and Vertica.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, orchestrate, and maintain our high-volume data pipelining and orchestration platforms

  • Build reliable Python software processes to transform, parse, clean, combine, and process data

  • Build dashboards and visualizations to support analytics stakeholders

 Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years industry in a data engineering or related role

  • Excellent programming skills in at least one high-level programming language. We primarily use Python in our data engineering team.

  • Extensive experience in writing SQL

  • Superb interpersonal skills in English (both spoken and written)

  • An interest in or desire to learn about the digital marketing domain

  • Experience with data management in analytic data warehouses (ex. Snowflake, Vertica) is a plus

  • You are an outstanding teammate who loves to engage with colleagues at a professional and personal level

  • You can handle a high volume of requests with frequent interruptions and prioritize their work while taking infrastructure and business needs into account

  • You have an extraordinary technical communication skills

  • You have strong collaboration skills with analytics and data science stakeholders
