We’re seeking an innovative Computer Vision Scientist to join our growing team. At Charles River Analytics, you will develop and apply concepts crossing multiple fields including computer vision, machine learning, signal processing, and state estimation. You will work in tightly-knit, project-oriented teams with a Principal Investigator and other scientists and engineers to create prototypes of new research concepts that can be further developed into usable products. You will have the opportunity to design and execute your own research projects, growing into a Principal Investigator where you will pursue your own technical interests by building a portfolio of new work. You will also have the opportunity to attend conferences, have your work published, and move the state of the art forward.     

Example projects/products you would work on include:

  • Advanced real-time vision systems for robotic vehicles
  • Marine mammal detection and tracking for maritime vessels
  • Camera-based 3D reconstruction of objects from a single image
  • 3D scene measurement from a single camera

How will you make an impact?

  • Design new methods or use existing methods from the literature to solve challenging problems across a range of sensing and perception-based applications in the applied robotics and physiological systems domains
  • Formulate new ideas and develop proposals for new projects, including establishing new areas of research
  • Write papers and reports on existing projects
  • Present your work to customers, collaborators, and the research community
  • Guide prototype development while engaging with end-user communities and technology partners

What do you need?

  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related area
  • Expertise in machine learning methods and tools, including deep learning and associated frameworks such as PyTorch/Caffe/TensorFlow
  • Experience with image and/or signal processing methods
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • US Citizenship with an ability to obtain a US Government security clearance

What does our ideal candidate have?

  • Masters (with 2+ years of related experience) or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related area
  • Experience with robotic/autonomous systems
  • Demonstrated experience building artificial intelligence applications in a general purpose programming language such as Python or C++
  • Experience directly interacting with customers and/or users
  • Experience translating user needs and system features into actionable requirements for engineering teams to produce technical solutions
  • Experience generating proposals, publications, or similar written materials
