Senior Insurance Data Analyst

About the Team

The Risk & Insurance team at DoorDash is responsible for all things corporate insurance at the company. We are a rapidly growing and exciting function that helps DoorDash manage risk and safety with a close lens on the company's bottom line. The team is divided into three separate subgroups: Actuarial, Claims Operations and Risk Management & Mitigation. We are looking for forward thinkers that are excited to help build out this newly-formed team and match our ambitious cross functional partners at DoorDash.

About the Role

We are looking for a non-traditional data scientist who will be a member of DoorDash’s Risk & Insurance function, and will focus on building out data models for our third party insurance programs and captive insurance company. In this highly visible role, you’ll have the opportunity to come in as the first data hire on the Risk & Insurance team and help lead projects aimed at reducing overall incidents in the DoorDash ecosystem.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

• Leverage your domain expertise in building from the ground up and conducting internal loss data analysis related to our insurance risk
• Own a process with significant visibility that will be utilized by senior executives  
• Build internal data models, monitor loss trends/development and effectively communicate relevant  business implications to cross functional group, including Risk & Insurance, Dasher Operations, and Trust and Safety
• Partner with external stakeholders including insurers & brokers to produce actionable data insights that will help DoorDash reduce safety incidents

We’re excited about you because you have…

• 3+ years experience as a data scientist or related role
• BA/BS degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or other quantitative field
• Ability to work with SQL and Python (or other related language) to manage and analyze large datasets
• Experience with, or deep understanding of, commercial auto insurance
• Prior experience working with or for a gig or sharing economy company a plus
• Experience working with a Captive a plus
• Outstanding communication skills and an ability to clearly explain/teach complex data concepts and modeling techniques to internal stakeholders

Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, the base salary range in Colorado for this position is $110,925 - $150,075, plus opportunities for equity and commission. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
