On completion of the 12 month graduate programme (or sooner), you’ll move into a role in the department and continue your Future career journey.


Team Overview

You will be a part of the data platform team which is responsible for the data platform and data products:

Data platform

  • Provision of data platform to provide data in accessible format that is reliable, accurate and timely
  • Provision of data structures to meet reporting needs
  • Provision of new metrics
  • Data quality, consistency and timeliness of data pipelines
  • Development of new data pipelines
  • Data modelling

Data products & data science

  • Sophisticated analysis of large data sets to facilitate business decisions/performance improvement
  • Delivering increase in revenue or reduction in cost through creation of data products
  • A/B testing

Job Overview

To provide expert analytical insight to the business with an emphasis on the digital/web environment for Future’s products, consumers and clients to ultimately optimise performance. The role is responsible for ensuring the regular and ad hoc reporting and insight cycle is effectively delivered as agreed with the Head of Analytics and Director of Performance

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assist in delivering regular and ad hoc reporting across all of Future’s digital products and services
  • Automate repetitive reporting and analyses
  • Perform tests on large datasets to determine data quality and integrity
  • Ensure new datasets satisfy the product requirements and meet stakeholder expectations
  • Support the team in ensuring all relevant tagging is implemented across our websites. Provide development teams with the correct code and best practice guidelines for full implementation on each site to enable full use of the metrics available within the current package, ensuring data is correctly recorded by the tool
  • Collaborate with project leads to ensure data issues and product features are clearly documented
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure the limitations of the data are clear and that correct procedures are undertaken to ensure high quality data and insight is available to the business

Requirements

Essential

  • We are looking for a bright, data driven graduate or recent graduate, you’ll need an analytical mindset for this role and be great at finding pragmatic solutions to problems
  • Attention to detail is key as your role will involve working with a lot of datasets across many different sources
  • You’ll be using a variety of software platforms so a good understanding of Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets is essential
  • Strong numerical background, with at least A-Level Mathematics
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and on multiple projects at one time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical audiences

Desirable

  • Numerate or data science related degree
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics
  • Experience of SQL querying language
  • Experience working with cloud databases such as AWS Redshift or Google BigQuery
  • Ability to produce insightful and user-friendly reports with data visualisation tools such as Google Data Studio or Microsoft Power BI
  • Working knowledge of data analysis with modern frameworks such as Python, R and developing analysis in Jupyter notebooks
