As Manager of Data Engineering, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, architecture, and design of Coupa’s Data platforms. The ideal candidate will not only bring the architectural/product knowledge (in areas including but not limited to sales, service, support, data, integrations, and automation solutions) but also the experience and willingness to be a hands-on technical leader who leads by example. You'll work cross-functionally with partners in the Sales, Marketing, Data Analytics and Support organization to deliver solutions.
You will help manage a team of developers and analysts to drive successful delivery and adoption of projects to stakeholders and build a sustainable and scalable platform.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the business owners to identify / understand business needs and translate these into effective solutions that are aligned with the technology roadmap and strategic direction of the team utilizing highest quality, best-in-breed solutions for Business Analytics, Data Modeling and Delivery
• Own end-to-end process for individual projects as well as overall project roadmap
• Provide business analysis, solution design, business process redesign, implementation, training, and support
• Keep up to date on industry trends and recommend solutions to meet business needs
• Be the key stakeholder for change management and Dev Ops
• Manage team of Data Engineers to build scalable world class architecture
• Build and maintain the infrastructure required for extraction, transformation and loading of data from multiple data sources using custom scripted as well as SaaS technologies
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependencies, and model management
• Develop and maintain star schemas and assist Data Analysts with the maintenance and development of BI-serving models
• Data stores infrastructure management: data lake, data warehouses, scheduled jobs, querying tool
• Create and maintain tools to monitor data quality and integrity
• Perform periodic health checks and audits on all data stores, ETLs, ELTs and data consumption connections
• Fully utilize the resources available in our data stores infrastructure to optimize operations and maximize data security and reliability

Requirements:

• Deep experience in architecting cloud-based data-warehouse solutions such as AWS Redshift and Snowflake, powering BI visualization platforms and exposure to business systems (e.g. Salesforce, Marketo, Outreach etc.)
• 8+ Years of Technical hands-on experience with Data Warehouses such as AWS RDS PostgreSQL, Snowflake, AWS Redshift etc. 
• 2+ Years’ experience managing and mentoring team of data engineers including managing tasks and prioritization, ensuring data engineering best practices are being followed
• Working experience with AWS resources strongly preferred (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, RDS, EC2, Spark, CloudFormation)
• Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex technology solutions to senior leadership, gain alignment, and drive progress
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and database artifacts
• Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Java, etc.)
• Experience interacting with APIs, utilizing SDKs, and other tools
