We are changing things. We are So Energy, a fast-growing 100% renewable energy supplier in the UK. We're the leading energy supplier for customer service. We've also won the 2020 Moneyfacts Energy Provider of the Year award and been recognised as a Which? recommended energy supplier for 2020. Now we're looking for people to join our growing team and support our customer base which has tripled in the last 7 months.

We are moving from producing several ad-hoc reports based on SQL queries to building an analytics platform in Google Cloud Platform. It will be based on a data warehouse in Google Cloud Platform with Looker on top to provide the equivalent to a report as a service kind of functionalities.

Our users (external but also internal) are extremely important to us. You will be part of a growing Business Intelligence team to help us set up and deliver robust, structured reporting, insights, and models for the data warehouse cloud platform

Requirements

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the development of self-service reporting and analysis by creating and owning business reports and insight products
  • Conduct data analysis to solve business problems through the use of statistical and/or machine learning models
  • Continuously sharpen the skill set by learning and maintaining knowledge of existing and emerging business intelligence tools
  • Collaborate with the internal and global data engineering teams on the design, development, and maintenance of data infrastructure including data models
  • Collaborate with the internal and worldwide data science teams on the design, development, and maintenance of statistical and/or artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) models
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen, experience in developing reporting and analytical infrastructures, strong communication skills, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Able to prioritize work and negotiate a delivery timeline with senior stakeholders
  • The role will be responsible for producing a quality end-product that is fit for purpose, and work closely with the team, resolving escalations and diagnosing issues or bugs

Candidate profile

  • Commercial experience in business intelligence, including data warehousing and business intelligence tools, techniques, and technology, or experience in analytics, business analysis, or comparable consumer analytics solutions.
  • Experience translating data into action (applied research, marketing, consulting, or related field)
  • Ability to manage research agencies
  • Confidence in building meaningful relationships across the business
  • Experience in extracting, interrogating, and distilling data from in-house systems
  • Strong and effective communication skills; ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely, engaging multiple audiences, internally and externally
  • Experience with research methods in quantitative and qualitative research, as well as interpreting CX and more complex data models
  • Understanding how insights build brands
  • Experience working with others to set targets for new and existing business propositions
  • Proficiency in relational databases (Redshift, RDS, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) and SQL for querying and extracting data
  • Proficiency with SQL and programming languages with a focus on data analytics (Python, R, etc.)
  • Expertise in data visualization software (QuickSight, Tableau, PowerBI, QlikView, Looker etc.) for effective data presentation
  • Experience in the data/BI space
  • Expertise in modern data warehousing techniques (Data modelling, experience with ETL, etc.)
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and concepts
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Strong and effective written and oral communication to clearly convey data findings
