The Technology and Innovation (T&I) Ministry supports Government of Alberta (GoA) departments with information management and technology (IMT) leadership and expertise in IMT services delivery, security, and corporate investment management that enable the GoA to meet business goals and objectives.

The Data and Content Management Division uses a one-government approach to data and content governance, decision-making, and service delivery across the Government of Alberta (GoA) balanced with individual client needs. This facilitates enhanced data access, collaboration, reduction in data duplication, and innovation to ensure effective and efficient services across the government to provide better services to Albertans.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Data Product Delivery, the Data Product Delivery Analyst is responsible for supporting a data centre of excellence that delivers services to enable data access, analytics and economy to support data-informed decision making. This role works with other individuals within the Data Unit, across the organization and with external technical partners to effectively delivery data products as the organization's data assets. The role focuses on delivering data products with agility, focus on business outcomes, innovation, and transformation to ensure data is treated as a corporate asset. This role supports the Data Product Delivery team in identification, evaluation and recommendation, and delivery of data products and product opportunities for the GoA and its external partners (as needed).

The efforts of this role improve access to and informed use of GoA data assets both within and outside of government in support of policy analysis, program planning, and decision-making. This role requires the ability to think and work critically across the organization, as well as diving deeper on both data and information topics related to data access, data governance, and the data economy. Doing this work requires the role to work closely with other Analysts and Managers (and above) across the department to design, provide advice, and prepare recommendations for data product delivery.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A related university degree in computer science or a related discipline supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience
  • Strong business analysis and product analytic skills
  • Experience working with agile project management processes, methodologies, principles and techniques


Assets:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master, Product Owner Certification or other related training/certificates in Agile Methodologies
  • Training or certification in business analysis and product analytics
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps and Microsoft Azure services like Azure databricks and Azure data factory
  • Experience in establishing and developing frameworks at enterprise level


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Notes

This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).

Location: Remote within Alberta
        - While this position is eligible for remote work, the successful candidate must reside in Alberta to work remotely.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
