Why this role is exciting:

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be working within a fast-paced, agile team building data enhancement tools and APIs.  You will learn our cloud, data, and microservice tech stack and tools.  You will own product features from idea to production.

We work with many of the world’s best-known brands - you will be directly building the product we are selling to these companies.

Responsibilities:

  • The Principal Engineer will lead and manage one or more squads that deliver features to specific areas in the Impact platform.
  • In this capacity, the manager will collaborate with Product Management to form product roadmap for their domain(s)
  • The Manager will lead day-to-day tactical execution of engineering activities for their squad(s), leveraging Agile techniques
  • The Manager will ensure quality of delivery of their squad(s) through code reviews, ensuring documentation exists, performing retrospectives, etc.
  • Engineering Managers at Impact are also expected to be hands-on Engineers themselves, delivering features to the platform on a consistent basis.
  • Manages a team of software engineers that architect and design software on the Impact Platform
  • Works with these employees to ensure company goals are met
  • Promotes/Articulates company vision and opportunity within the team
  • Measures employee performance
  • The Manager has responsibility to advocate for team headcount, employee promotions, and terminations
  • The Engineering Manager ensures employee goals are set and progress is measured against them. The Manager also leads performance management efforts.

The Engineering Manager ensures their squad-level roadmap(s) are set, and are delivered to plan

Does this sound like you? 

  • 10+ years professional experience in a software engineering role.
  • 4+ years in some kind of lead capacity.
  • Fluent in Java or Scala
  • Knowledge in web scraping / crawling
  • Experience with big data processing of web data and content
  • Experience with collecting, storing, processing and analyzing large amounts of data
  • Continuous Integration (CI) / delivery methods, tooling, integrations, DevOps.
  • Comfortable with public cloud providers and serverless technologies
  • Knowledge of Digital Marketing or Web Analytics is a big plus.
