We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Movement squad. At Oura we believe that when it comes to healthy living, every movement counts. The movement squad develops features related to exercise and activity for everyone from busy parents to elite athletes, including measurement of heart rate during workouts and detection and classification of different types of activity. As the data scientist on this squad, you will investigate biometric signals collected during movement, work with product managers, designers and engineers to develop and iterate on movement features, and develop algorithms and ML models to enable those features. You should be comfortable with both exploratory data science/statistics and with contributing ML code to our production codebase. Our vision is to create a fully personalized, seamless solution for tracking and guiding users’ movement , and you will have ownership of the technical direction we take in executing this vision.
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team, if you:
- Have either your PhD and 4+ years of work experience as a data scientist or machine learning engineer including developing models for deployment to product or 8+ years experience without your degree
- Have worked with time-series data from a multi-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, or similar MEMS sensors
- Have 2+ years experience with Python at an advanced level, including scipy/numpy
- Are competent in SQL and data wrangling, and comfortable contributing to the data pipelines supporting the features you develop
- Preferably, have worked on embedded system firmware or worked closely with a firmware engineering team
- Familiarity with AWS or Pytorch a plus
- Experience working in the consumer wearables space a huge plus
