BitSight Technologies is looking for a Data Operations Engineer to become a core member of our Data team. Data is the backbone of BitSight’s pioneering security ratings product. The ideal candidate will be a systems-oriented problem solver who is comfortable in a high-visibility role at the intersection of data, customer, people, and technology. This person will play a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of BitSight’s data business and is expected to become an expert in the systems that are responsible for constructing BitSight’s security ratings. 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and drive root cause resolution of technical issues related to data sources in conjunction with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams
  • Empower Customer Support team to independently manage data-related inquiries via in-person, remote, and written/visual training; assist support team with new customer inquiries related to data source performance
  • Develop operational metrics on data sources in collaboration with our Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams. Communicate those findings via scalable and repeatable processes, tooling, and visualizations. Recommend improvements based on findings.
  • Quality check data from existing providers/sources to ensure successful integrations
  • Document data integrations and related information to scale cross-functional knowledge sharing
  • Ensure that data sets required for BitSight’s security ratings to function correctly are kept up-to-date
  • Perform technical evaluation of new datasets, document findings, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in feedback channel monitoring activities via Zendesk ticket queue. Activities include but are not limited to network abuse request handling and blacklist monitoring

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to use data to troubleshoot and solve complex problems autonomously and in collaboration with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Experience analyzing, documenting, and presenting data-driven research
  • Working knowledge of basic computer science, data collection/management, software development, and network engineering concepts
  • Ability to be a self-starter, be attentive to details, and work independently
  • Strong presentation, process development, and communication skills

Desired qualifications:

  • Demonstrated basic-intermediate knowledge of SQL, Python, command line interfaces, and/or other analytical tools
  • BS in a quantitative or technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Economics, etc) or relevant professional experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, data management, or SaaS
  • Previous technical customer support experience is a plus
