Job Title: Data Engineer

Reporting to: Data Engineering Manager

Location: UK remote

The team behind the technology

Technology is at the heart of Liberis’ growth and as part of the tech team you will have a big part to play in achieving our mission: To give every business access to funding. We are scaling up our Data estate at Liberis and there are exciting times ahead. We're looking at new cloud data platforms like snowflake, creating a new data as a service strategy and approaches like DataOps.

We are an agile team that has proven to be fully equipped to deal with the recent major shift in working structure and environment, meaning we can support remote or part-remote working and trust our colleagues to take ownership for their role. Therefore we encourage flexibility and finding a working structure that fits for both you and the team. 

Who are you?

You enjoy the analysis, design and modelling involved with creating new data pipelines and are keen to see them through from inception to completion. Creating well optimised, performant queries is what you do best. Always keen to learn more and improve the ways that users consume data, striving for straight forward, uncomplicated, and useful solutions.

We think you’ll need

  • A strong knowledge and substantial working experience with Microsoft Azure Data Engineering Toolset including administration and security
  • An ability to create, implement and optimise T-SQL queries and stored procedures
  • A proven track record in data warehouse design and delivery
  • Demonstrable ability to design, implement and use different database structures with particular focus on cloud-based data services such as Azure, Snowflake.
  • Experience in building ETL/ ELT data pipelines and use of DevOps (CI/ CD) concepts to test, schedule, and deploy to a production environment.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture and data streaming.
  • Excellent communicator & fluent in English
  • You can analyse new requirements and translate into technical ones.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) would be beneficial

What will you be doing here?

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining the estates in Azure Sql databases / snowflake, including the ETL/ELT processes to load data to those databases.
  • You’ll be a valued member of the Data Engineering team working with stakeholders to solve complex business problems and enable better decision making
  • Contributing to the architectural governance set by the Data Architect to ensure efficiency and scalability
