This role is preferred to be located near our Arlington, VA site, but can be located in any virtual US or virtual EU location.
CSPXT is growing its strategy team to add a Data Scientist to help research and benchmark key problems and help to ensure that our leaders are making decisions that optimally impact our employees.
This role will proactively identify mechanisms, trends, and process improvements to positively impact the lives, wellbeing, and overall employee experience within global Customer Service (CS) and CSPXT. You will need to integrate data sources, create a data infrastructure to model and research all aspects of HR, including: workforce planning, recruiting, employee engagement, retention, development, and compensation.
This is a unique role that will provide significant latitude to design, drive, and lead data efforts within the organization and define the biggest problems to solve. The ideal candidate is expected to work closely with multiple leaders across CSPXT and Operations to bring clarity to ambiguous topics and problems. You will need to be able to properly define both the problem and solution to teams.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Utilize database technologies, including SQL, ETL, and Redshift.
- Transform complicated business problems into mathematics modeling and provide data-driven solutions.
- Perform statistical analysis, including clustering, cross-section and panel data regression.
- Use machine learning to help identify additional insights, trends, and forecasts.
- Write narratives and present findings to Sr. Leadership Teams.
- Lead initiatives to improve job satisfaction, increase retention, and support Talent/DEI projects.
- Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation, and model implement.
- Work independently and bring clarity to complex, ambiguous problems.
A day in the life
The role is intended to focus on three complex/ambiguous problems:
1. Creating models and research around key HR topics: workforce planning, recruiting, employee engagement, retention, development, and compensation.
2. Internal Benchmarking for topics like Job Satisfaction / Retention needs for CS Associates, Team Managers, and PXT roles. Partnering with larger PXT benchmarking team to conduct external benchmarks and across GCF.
3. Digesting/explaining trends and problems related to Talent/DEI needs within CS.

Basic Qualifications
- PhD or Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years experience in a data science role and applying scientific principals and concepts to business problems and products.
- Experience using Business Intelligence systems and data presentation (Tableau, MicroStrategy, PowerBI, Quicksight).
- Track record of diving into data to discover hidden patterns and explaining problems.
- Knowledge of various machine learning techniques and key parameters that affect their performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Database design and operation (Redshift, Dynamo DB, MySQL, NoSQL)
- Expert level experience with Tableau or Quicksight.
- AWS, Tableau certifications or other related professional technical certifications.
- Experience with AWS services.
- Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Java, R etc).
The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $ 158,200 - $215,300 a year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
