Applied Scientist - Ad Products
San Francisco, California, USA
Job summary
About Us:
Twitch is the world's biggest live streaming service, with global communities built around gaming, entertainment, music, sports, cooking, and more. It's where millions of people come together to chat, interact, and make their own entertainment.
We're about community, inside and out. You'll find coworkers who are eager to team up, collaborate, and smash (or elegantly solve) problems together. We're on a quest to empower live communities, so if this sounds good to you, see what we're up to on LinkedIn and Twitter, get interviewing tips on Instagram, and discover projects we're solving on our Blog.
About the Role:
Twitch Ads aims to equitably create meaningful income for all creators by complementing income earned from patronage products. We take pride in our mission to help streamers build communities and earn a living doing what they love. The scale and diversity of users, transactions, social interactions and communities presents an exciting opportunity to use our data to personalize experiences for our viewers, creators and advertising partners.
The Ads ML team aims to identify and exploit levers in the multi-participant ads marketplace that can reduce the impact of bad actors, increase safety for brands alongside live streaming content, and lead increased efficiency while raising the bar of viewer experience. As an Applied Scientist, you will build applied solutions that bring stepwise changes to the business by promoting new opportunities, driving efficiencies and equilibrium at scale across both supply and demand. Twitch data is unique-- granular structured event data, graphs of user interactions, raw live video, and chat. Come join us!
You Will:
• Design, prototype and implement Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and experiments
• Work backwards from customer problems to develop hypotheses and test them in live systems to inform opportunities for impact
• In close collaboration with Data Engineers and ML Engineers, develop production data and ML pipelines
• Work with analysts, economists, data scientists, product managers and engineers to turn ever-evolving research about our users into predictive services with measurable impact on customer experiences
• Contribute to the applied science community at Twitch and Amazon by sharing techniques, research, and tools
You Have:
• Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, econometrics, or biostatistics, or equivalent hands-on experience. We welcome applicants with non-conventional backgrounds
• 2+ years of experience building machine learning products
• Experience developing and owning predictive algorithms at scale
• Experience with AWS or related cloud platform
• Experience with one or more of: forecasting, probabilistic modeling, multi-objective optimization, anomaly detection, contextual bandits and reinforcement learning
Perks
• Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
• 401(k)
• Maternity & Parental Leave
• Flexible PTO
• Amazon Employee Discount
• Monthly Contribution & Discounts for Wellness Related Activities & Programs (e.g., gym memberships, off-site massages)
