About the Role:Science Exchange is looking for a Data Architect who will set a strategy on how data is  normalized across the Science Exchange data landscape and build the new data infrastructure from the ground up. A key element will include the design and execution of a diverse data pipeline consisting of many sources with highly varied structured and unstructured data to feed into Science Exchange’s data model. The ideal candidate is able to effectively communicate with customers, internal business stakeholders, and engineering team to deliver the best solutions for a marketplace.   
We are looking for a highly-motivated, hard-working and ambitious individual who can build relationships with the stakeholders, understand and anticipate business needs and develop data strategy and roadmap for data technologies. You will be part of our talented Product team but will also work closely with other teams across Science Exchange including Revenue, Engineering, Finance, and Business Operations.

You should be a self-starter, with a bias towards action, who can recognize and make process and tool improvement recommendations.

Requirements:

  • 7+  years of relevant hands on experience developing and supporting applications throughout the development lifecycle, including coding, testing, and implementation
  • Background in dealing with e-commerce and inventory systems or marketplace
  • Experience with relational database management systems (Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server/MySQL)
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Salesforce Objects, and its’ related Salesforce technologies
  • Experience architecting and implementing cloud infrastructure applications and services, taking into account best practices and industry standards
  • Experience with Data Warehouses such as Redshift, Snowflake, etc
  • Content Indexing (crawling - ETL).  Manipulating data, normalizing data, indexing, ranking.
  • High level of comfort in dealing with data in a variety of structured formats such as JSON, CSV, XML, CXML, etc

Responsibilities:

  • Create data pipelines to normalize large data sets from disparate sources into one source
  • Developing and implementing an overall organizational data strategy that is in line with business processes; The strategy includes data model designs, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems
  • Understand customer objectives and processes; effectively communicate system capabilities and limitations; and deliver available data
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Provide clear documentation for delivered solutions and processes
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to express complicated technical concepts verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences
  • Possess the project management skills necessary to complete assignments effectively and efficiently, demonstrating accountability to management and customers for meeting deadlines
