What You'll Do: 

The Director of Data Strategy & Data Architecture is responsible for leading a team of data architects and their deliverables.  The Director is accountable for developing the enterprise data architecture that can be implemented across the entire organization (product and business operations). The Director works in partnership with organization stakeholders in support of quality products/services that exceed our internal and external expectations. The Director of Data Strategy & Data Architecture provides strategic and technical leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of an enterprise data hub, identify standard technologies and define a data democratization process that can be leveraged in the planning and execution of product and technology development.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Provides strategic leadership of the software development function and guides the teams by utilizing expertise, techniques, tools, languages, and practices to coach and mentor.
  • Partners across strategy, product and engineering organizations to develop reference architecture for the enterprise data domains
  • Implements a data democratization process across the enterprise to ensure consistent usage of data
  • Provides strategic guidance to senior leadership for data movement strategies, data obfuscation (data masking), record retention strategy (Deletion and Archival), data infrastructure/security, the operational data store (ODS) and the operational reporting strategy.
  • Mentors managers and junior architects in solving problems with an enterprise mindset
  • Actively collaborates with the engineering leadership team and solution/application architects to solve problems and improve the function of the engineering organization.
  • Prioritizes, monitors, and manages results through planning, attention to detail, and decision making.
  • Ensures consistent and effective application of Lean principles and Agile development practices.
  • Performs key people management responsibilities including hiring, on boarding, developing, and supervising team along with conducting performance appraisals and coaching for performance and career growth.
  • Ensures the teams they interact with understand JAMF values, mission, goals and engineering priorities and can make the connection between the work they are doing and the greater organization.

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Minimum of 8 years professional experience in Enterprise Architecture and Software development roles demonstrating progressive knowledge and growth in responsibilities. (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years previous management experience. (Required)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in data warehousing concepts and techniques.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Master Data Management (MDM) concept, tools, and best practices.
  • Minimum of 5 year leading global distributed, matrixed teams on a large scale. (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years delivering software & internal business systems to support product portfolios. (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years in development tools (including but not limited to: Java, Objective C, Swift. MySQL, Ruby, Python, Eclipse and Mobile). (Required)
  • General Experience with Mac OS X and iOS platforms. (Preferred)
  • Atlassian Tools (Jira, confluence, bamboo, etc.). (Preferred)
  • Agile practitioner experienced in Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban and Less. (Preferred)

 

Education & Certifications:

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. (Required)
  • Graduate / Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field. (Preferred)
  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
  • Preferred Certifications/Licensures: SAFe certification
