Software Engineer, Perception Machine Learning

The perception team builds an accurate representation of the world which enables the robot to not drive autonomously but also to provide driver assistance to our teleoperators by classifying regions, detecting & tracking objects. The team builds efficient algorithms that run on the robot for online understanding as well as representations that can be used for automatic offline data labeling. As a machine learning engineer on the perception team you will have access to our large robot fleet already deployed across many cities in different neighborhoods for data collection as well as testing and evaluation for generalization.
We are looking for machine learning engineers who are not only perception, computer vision & ML experts but also thrive on building & architecting the system early on.

Responsibilities

• Design and Build efficient ML based algorithms to perform object detection, semantic segmentation and scene understanding
• Apply state of the art ML research on multi-modal temporal sensor data
• Build scalable data pipelines to leverage our large fleet of robots
• Build tools to evaluate technical progress
• Collaborate with perception & infrastructure engineers to help design scalable data labeling and ML infrastructure processes

Basic Qualifications

• Strong computer system fundamentals and proficiency in C/C++
• BS/MS/PhD or equivalent degree in Computer Science or Robotics
• Perception ML related course work
• Previous experience with ML image processing tasks such as object detection, monocular depth, semantic segmentation, birds eye view projection

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of industry experience in ML perception
