Position overview:
As a Data Scientist on the 6RS Data Insights Team, you will have the opportunity to work with the immense amount of data collected by our end-to-end 6RS warehouse automation system. We are looking for inquisitive and creative people who can use Analytics & Data Science to derive value from this data and provide insights into the behavior of the robots and find ways to increase the overall performance of our 6RS system. Our team’s mission is to help internal and external stakeholders make better data-informed decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with product, engineering and other business leaders to influence product and program decisions with data
- Experiment with models, simulations, and even live warehouses to help identify improvement opportunities
- Build tools for analyzing system data to provide insights to other less technical teams
- Choose and use the appropriate data science methods (e.g. visualizations, dashboards, A/B testing, survival analysis, regression, survey design, machine learning, etc)
- Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines: work closely with stakeholders to build instrumentation and define data collection and ETL processes
- Define data models, build actionable KPIs and production-quality dashboards
Requirements:
- BSc degree in Computer Science / Data Science or relevant (e.g. Physics, EE, MechEng)
- 2+ years of work experience, not including internships
- Strong knowledge of Python and software engineering fundamentals
- Extensive experience of SQL and databases
- Experience with applied statistics and quantitative modeling (e.g. regression, survival analysis, segmentation, experimentation, and machine learning when needed)
- Demonstrated ability to translate analytical insights into clear recommendations and effectively communicate them to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong sense of ownership and growth mindset
Bonus points for one or more of the following:
- Master’s or PhD degree in science/engineering
- Deep understanding of advanced SQL techniques
- Strong expertise with statistical techniques
- Extensive experience with machine learning
- Masterful data storytelling and strategic thinking
- Domain experience in e-commerce, marketing or SaaS
Location:
Our Innovation Lab is based in Waltham, MA. However, the office as we've known it has changed for everyone and the majority of our employees now work from home. So even if you are currently living outside of the greater Boston area, we encourage you to apply.
