Spotify’s goal is to become the world’s leading audio platform, and having a best-in-class Financial Planning and Analytics (FP&A) function is essential to this mission. The Automation & Tooling team plays an instrumental role within the FP&A team by developing the company’s financial forecast models, scenario analysis platforms, and self-serve analytics tools for stakeholders across the business.
We are looking for an outstanding Senior Data Scientist with expertise in forecasting methodologies and building analytics tools for a Finance function to own the automation and scaling of our revenue modeling capabilities. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience developing and deploying data products at scale for use by data scientists, financial analysts, and business owners alike. This role is based in New York City and will report into the Head of Automation & Tooling within FP&A.

What You'll Do

  • Own the development of new and existing financial forecast models, with a focus on building out Spotify’s revenue forecasting infrastructure
  • Develop best-in-class modeling approaches to support accurate monetization and profitability predictions for our advertising and subscription-based businesses
  • Create analytics tools that venture beyond reporting dashboards and explore the links between user behavior and financial performance
  • Evolve Spotify’s financial analysis and ROI frameworks while supercharging the process of analyzing financial results and forecasting accuracy
  • Communicate actionable insights and recommendations from the models and tools you develop to senior leaders within Finance and across the business
  • Mentor other data scientists within the team through peer reviews and academic guidance

Who You Are

  • 7+ years of professional experience building forecast models, designing analytics tools, and synthesizing insights.
  • Experience working within a Finance team, B2C subscription-based business, or the digital advertising industry is a plus
  • Master's Degree in Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a relevant fieldHigh degree of ability and experience with Python
  • Strong competence with SQL; experience with distributed systems (Redshift, Hadoop, BigQuery) is a plus
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with team members from other disciplines
  • An attitude that champions collaboration, but also the ability to get the job done on your own when necessary
