Business Intelligence and Data Analyst

Timescale is looking for a Business Intelligence and Data Analyst to use SQL to answer some of our most important business growth questions. We’re a rapidly growing company, and we need even more rapid insights from our data to help drive our decision-making and ensure we focus on the right things, at the right time.

We like to think of this role as our own R2-D2 : the individual behind the scenes opening locked doors right when we’re about to run into them. If that quote made sense, you love analytics, and love reading about SaaS metrics, then you’ll fit right in!

This role is remote, and English language fluency is a requirement. This role will report to our Head of Biz-Ops who is based in Eastern Standard Time and at least four hours of work time overlap is a requirement. 

What you will do

• Help provide the data and insights to answer key operational questions like “which customers are more likely to succeed?” or "which customer should Customer Success contact first?”
• Connect data across Product, Customer Success, Marketing, and Engineering, into a unified view to guide company-wide decision-making.
• Help us mature from and automate our spreadsheet reporting processes.
• Help present a holistic view of customers’ progress and journey, both individually and aggregate trends.
  Work closely with data engineering to help them integrate and automate our data pipelines plus tooling for key metrics and operations. This includes connecting data sources across our 3 million monthly-active databases and multiple products.
• Create custom dashboarding, alerting, and monitoring solutions to help predict new customers conversion, churns, expansion rates, etc. Our entire go-to-market organization will depend on these resources on a daily basis!
• These tasks won’t necessarily need to utilize machine learning in the short term, but that would be a plus 🙌.

A little bit about you

• 2+ years of experience using SQL in a professional environment.
• Bachelors in Business, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline.
• Ideally, familiarity with SaaS and product usage metrics. You know the trade-offs and impacts of using one metric versus another.
• Experience working with common tools of an analytics stack, e.g. Looker, Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, etc.
