The role

As part of expanding our analytics platform we have an exciting Data Architect role, critical to helping us make more data quickly available and into meaningful management information and insight.

As Data Architect, you will be responsible for developing database solutions to store and retrieve company information and ensuring it is stored effectively and securely. You will help build, optimise and maintain conceptual and logical database models for our cloud analytics infrastructure and MI outputs which service all internal customers including the data science, e-commerce teams to warehouse operations and financial performance.

This would suit someone looking for a role that is fluid and flexible and will provide some autonomy and accountability.

Experienced data architects preferred, but we invite any other roles with relevant experiences to apply.

What you'll be doing

  • Report into and work alongside the Head of Data Management to build upon the existing GCP/BigQuery cloud based data platform.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders gathering requirements and delivering a solution from source data to production MI.
  • Work with the Insight team to help expedite and prepare data for ML/AI insight & analysis.
  • Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information
  • Analyse requirements and optimise for new and existing software and applications
  • Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements
  • Define security and backup procedures
  • Establish design patterns and architectural standards for integrating and modelling data for use in analytics and reporting
  • Establish processes and systems for assessing and managing the quality of data and the risk of data quality to the organisation
  • Developing strategies and roadmaps to improve for master and reference data management
  • Establish processes, standards and policies for managing and governing data across the enterprise
  • Maintain the enterprise data catalogue and enterprise data assets such as an enterprise data glossary, conceptual and logical data model
  • Establishing and leading a network of data owners and stewards to ensure data is cared for as an asset

More about you

  • Relevant experience in a data architect role
  • In-depth understanding of analytic database structures and dimensional modelling
  • Experience designing and building large data architectures – Data Lake & Data Warehouses
  • Working knowledge of data governance principles i.e. data profiling, cataloguing, managing access / security controls etc
  • Be able to coordinate with other departments to identify future needs and requirements
  • Highly organised and process driven
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Ambitious, driven individual who excels in challenging environments
  • Team player, able to work with multiple business functions to achieve objectives
