Job Title: Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist

We are looking for a Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist to join the Eagle Genomics Services team on our journey as we collaborate with some of the world’s most exciting, blue-chip companies. Using cutting-edge technologies, we’re reinventing research, enabling data-driven discovery, and unlocking meaningful change in the fields of sustainable agriculture, food, pharma, personal care, and cosmetics.

The Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist will play an active role in building data models for biological data and transforming the data for onboarding onto our platform.

You will:

  • Build data models and pipelines for onboarding of biological data onto the Eagle Genomics Platform.
  • Transform data from customers and external sources into Eagle model compatible formats.
  • Facilitate onboarding of data onto the Eagle Genomics Platform.
  • Review quality of models and onboarded data.
  • Work with customers, Service and Product team members and key business partners to facilitate transformation of public data and customer proprietary data into the Eagle Genomics compatible format ready for uploading on our platform.

Requirements

You will need:

  • A background in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Bioinformatics
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Biocuration, Bioinformatics or Computational Biology.
  • Experience at running analyses of data types within the field of microbiome research, esp. metagenome sequencing and meta-metabolomics analyses
  • To be proficient in using R/Bioconductor packages and/or Python for biological data analysis
  • To have has exposure to data in Systems Biology areas
  • Basic knowledge of data standards and ontologies and their importance in structured data management.
  • Working knowledge of network science theory

A bonus if you have:

  • Experience with using a graph database environment
  • Previous role supporting Biocuration activities
  • Experience in industry

  • Sound understanding of scientific research methods
  • Working well in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team
  • Team player, good communicator
  • Comfortable working in a remote environment with team members distributed globally
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of a team as well as evidence of independent completion of research efforts
