POSITION:  Senior Data Scientist

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Position will apply machine learning and statistical methods to solve large scale problems, including: product monetization and audience segmentation; perform data analysis to support key decision making to evaluate opportunities for revenue optimization; oversee full life-cycle of analytical model development to optimize audience monetization; work cross functionally with other data scientists in hotels, flights, restaurants, attractions business units to collaborate on models that address key advertiser needs and requirements; develop predictive models for user engagement and buying behavior; identify opportunities for revenue growth via user segmentation and personalized content; mentor junior data science team members; partner with Product Management and Engineering to create product requirements and specification documents for new features and products; evaluate external data partners as a subject matter expert and consultative perspective to understand if partner can enhance data stack and Tripadvisor’s owned modelling capabilities; partner with data engineering and product management teams to operationalize and execute model; and, run analysis to evaluate statistical accuracy and validity of model to give advertisers high degree of confidence in product and ROI.

REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Operations Research or a related quantitative field plus two (2) year of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Experience must include the following: At least two (2) years of experience with recommender systems, classification, A/B testing, or marketing analytics; Experience must also include: Demonstrable ability to derive practical solutions to business problems from imperfect data, and translating business needs into data-driven solutions; Demonstrable ability communicating complex analytical issues to technical and business audiences; Demonstrable proficiency in data transformation, cleansing and interpretation; Demonstrable expertise in SQL; Demonstrable proficiency with statistical programming environment (such as R, or Python); Demonstrable experience with predictive model building (such as logistic regression, xgboost); and, Demonstrable experience with deployment of ML models in production environment.
