About the role
We're looking for a Director of Data Science to drive and manage our Data Science strategy across the Checkout.com group.

Currently our Data Scientists are mainly focused on fraud detection and acceptance rate optimisation, but we believe there is a plethora of other opportunities to explore.
As Director, you'll design and build out our Data Science organisation - working closely with Technology & Product leaders across Checkout.com to understand how to align our Data Science strategy and roadmap for delivery.
Alongside partnering with our Technology and Product functions, you'll work closely with our People teams to ensure we retain and activate the best Data Scientists in the market. We're passionate about building innovation in our products. Scoping our future community of Data Scientists at Checkout, as well as helping shape the strategy for how Data Science is done in a cross-functional environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to build and scale Data Science at Checkout.com. You'll work closely with our C-Suite, VP level, and across the Data community.
We're looking for an experienced Data leader who has built out successful Data Science teams and products. You have a passion for Data Science and understand how to unlock business opportunities in Tech first environments. You have worked in cross-functional teams and understand the importance of balancing science and research with the right metrics and impact.

About You:

  • Strong background as a Data Scientist or otherwise in research (Masters/PhD and 7+ years of proven experience).
  • Leadership experience working collaboratively with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams in Technology.
  • Proven experience in hiring and scaling diverse impactful teams.
