Aurora Innovation
Aurora is building self-driving technology that will revolutionize the future of transportation.Who We Are
Aurora (Nasdaq: AUR) is delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly to make transportation safer, increasingly accessible, and more reliable and efficient than ever before. The Aurora Driver is a self-driving system designed to operate multiple vehicle types, from freight-hauling semi-trucks to ride-hailing passenger vehicles, and underpins Aurora Horizon and Aurora Connect, its driver-as-a-service products for trucking and ride-hailing. Aurora is working with industry leaders across the transportation ecosystem, including Toyota, FedEx, Volvo Trucks, PACCAR, Uber, Uber Freight, U.S. Xpress, Werner, Covenant, Schneider, and Ryder. As a software engineer in the autonomy acceleration team at Aurora, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining software systems at the core of our self-driving vehicles. The team works across the autonomy group (localization, perception, planning, controls) and the software organization at large, on high-priority, short-term projects that are cross-functional in nature with the goal of speeding up the delivery of a production autonomous vehicle. Past projects have included managing onboard latency, visualizing autonomy, end-to-end autonomy metrics, performance optimization, building critical V&V tooling, and supporting autonomy simulation. Team members collaborate every day with leading experts in machine learning, sensor development, large-scale software systems, simulation, and robotics and have opportunities for advancing the state of autonomous systems and implementing their own groundbreaking ideas.
As a team, we strive to increase the pace of development and amplify our impact by developing systems and components targeted at critical parts of the self-driving problem. We focus on short-term efforts in both leadership and support capacities, while bringing a cross-autonomy perspective to the task at hand, and deploying disciplined engineering, evaluation of data, and rigorous testing. Our goal is to support onboard and off-board software development, with projects including deep performance optimization, visualization, developer and cloud tooling, system architecture, and core algorithm development.
In This Role, You Will
- Design, develop, and test off-board and on-board autonomy software.
- Develop tools for increasing the development speed of building autonomy software.
- Develop tools for introspection, visualization, and performance analysis.
- Improve the performance of autonomy systems through architectural and algorithmic optimizations
Required Qualifications
- Experience developing software using C++
- Experience developing in a Linux or Unix environment
Desirable Qualifications
Experience With:
- Python and/or C++
- Robotics
- Real-Time Systems
