Verista is immediately hiring a remote Data Engineer. This is a full stack software development and operations position requiring experience designing, developing, and managing complete implementations: including databases and servers, middleware, and front-end web applications. Focus is on data and analytics for translational research and includes data collection and analysis tools for aggregate research, clinical, and manufacturing data. Also involves working with others cross functionally to provide data access through R, and visualizations through analysis tools like RStudio, Spotfire, and Tableau.

Requires strong SQL and data collection skills, strong experience creating JavaScript front ends and Python servers, and experience combining a variety of technologies in cloud-based environments.

• Working with data scientists, informaticians, and other engineers to implement world-class data-centric solutions for drug discovery

• Researching and leveraging new and cutting-edge technologies and adapting to new scientific concepts and problem domains
• Defining, advocating, and educating how to best implement FAIR practices
• Working within a team to develop creative and scalable solutions to complex technical problems
• These projects push the limits of current hardware and software stacks, you must have a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals

Requirements

• An advanced degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline, or commensurate experience

• 5-10 years of experience building full stack software systems in Life Science industry
• Experience designing and implementing creative solutions to difficult computational problems with emphasis on performance and near real-time data analytics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent technical leadership skills
• Strong understanding and practice of agile software development processes Desirable requirements:
• Strong relational and non-relational database experience
• Java, JavaScript, Python expertise
• Experience with distributed data processing and management systems
• Experience with AWS cloud technologies and stack
• Data mining techniques
• Experience in life sciences is a strong plus
• Design and architect the solution independently
• Be fluent in particular areas and have proficiency in many areas
• Have a passion to learn
• Take ownership and accountability
