Data is at the heart of the engines which power Zoopla’s experiences for Estate Agents, Landlords and consumers. We are searching for a Data Engineer to help build out our advanced analytics and real-time big data platform, to also expand on our data vision, and inspire best practice for data products and services across Zoopla.

Reporting to the Data Engineering Manager, these roles will be responsible for supporting the design and delivery of data-oriented technology solutions for Zoopla's property sites and smartphone apps (Zoopla.co.uk, Primelocation.co.uk, Smartnewhomes.co.uk) and Estate Agency Management Software portfolio (Alto, Jupix, ExpertAgent, Vebra Live, Winman).

These technology solutions will execute on our strategies for:

  • Zoopla’s overall data landscape
  • Our data models, taxonomies and reference data hierarchies
  • Data governance and stewardship
  • Future data monetisation opportunities


Requirements

Essential Skills:

  • A passionate engineer with previous commercial data engineering experience
  • Able to support and mentor other team members
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a certain degree of uncertainty
  • Comfortable working with SQL / NoSQL
  • Comfortable learning new technologies, languages, and tools on the job, to ensure that the product is not left behind in a rapidly evolving ecosystem
  • A positive, collaborative mindset and a desire to deliver real business value to the customer

Technical skills:

  • Experience using Amazon Web Services (Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions) (essential)
  • Terraform (essential)
  • Python (essential)
  • Spark (desirable)
  • Docker / ECS (desirable)
  • Experience running machine learning pipelines in production (desirable)
