We are responsible for the protection of customer and corporate data. We're connected to all parts of Amazon's business and its massive, worldwide service-oriented architecture. We enable the Amazon business to build, architect and operate their enterprise scale systems securely on AWS. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is excited about leading the technical vision and architecture for mission critical systems that connect Amazon developers and services with AWS’s cloud platform.

We provide Amazon with the necessary security data, detection, analytics, remediation, and workflow capabilities to enable effective protection of Amazon customer and company data.

We have multi-Petabyte size system which ingests Tera Bytes of Security logs every day in near real-time to Big Data platform. Our team transforms this data into information. We do normalization, enrichment, aggregation and summarization of the data and provide query capability on this data to provide insights to Security Teams to aid Security Incident investigations, threat hunting and detection.

The successful candidate is expected to use AWS technologies and build Big Data Solutions to improve data ingestion (ETL) pipelines, tune queries, transform data to insights, create query templates based on platform usage patterns. He/she will need also partner with information security and other federated security teams in Amazon and assist Security Engineers in security incident investigations. He/She will lead a team a data engineers and BIEs to serve various data needs of the organisation.

Basic Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 6+ years industry experience Demonstrated ability in data modeling, ETL development, query tuning and data warehousing. Experience with Big Data Technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Scala etc.) Experience with SQL and scripting languages.

Preferred Qualifications

Industry experience as a Data Engineer or related specialty (e.g., Software Engineer, Business Intelligence Engineer, Data Scientist) with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets. Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Scala, Python, Ruby, Java, etc) Strong database fundamentals including SQL, performance and schema design. Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets. Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing datasets from multiple sources Experience providing technical leadership and mentor other engineers for the best practices on the data engineering space Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and experience working in cloud platforms such as AWS Experience in the security, access, or identity spaces Strong business and technical vision.
