At Oscar, we are searching for a Sr. People Data Analyst to sit within the People Team.

About the role

In this exciting new role, you will build the foundation of data definitions and data visualization here at Oscar. You will possess strong analytical skills, knowledge of data science principles and have an ability to communicate technical concepts to partners with non-technical backgrounds. In partnership with HR and business leaders, you will actively listen, proactively advise on business challenges, and present actionable recommendations to support those challenges. 


Responsibilities 

  • Apply your expertise in people research, quantitative analysis, data science and data visualization to help Oscar  recruit, select, grow, and retain talent, etc 

  • See beyond the data to identify solutions that will raise the bar for all things people-related

  • Collaborate with data engineering and visualization engineers to access and manipulate data, explain data gathering requirements, and display results

  • Partner with the HR, recruiting and diversity teams on people projects to identify and clarify critical people issues, deeply understand our people processes, and analyze data to drive improvements

  • Bring together Oscar -specific data and outside research to help leaders understand people issues

  • Communicate statistical analyses and results, along with implications, to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Collaborate effectively with the Employment Law team on a variety of sensitive projects

  • Collaborate effectively with and mentor other team members

  • Demonstrate exceptional judgment and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive people data

Qualifications

 

  • Required: Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Behavioral Economics, Data Science, Human Development, Health and Behavior, Human Centered Design, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.

  • Required: At least 3 years of relevant industry experience as a hands-on applied researcher.

  • Expertise in both applied quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., interview, focus groups, survey, RCTs, A/B testing, thematic analysis, ethnographic research).

  • Knowledge of multivariate statistical techniques and willingness to learn new approaches as needed.

  • Experience with, or openness to being trained on, various data analytic and experimentation tools and platforms (e.g., R, Looker, Braze, SQL).

  • Ability to quickly tailor and design effective, appropriate research methodologies within time and resource constraints.

  • Ability to create compelling presentations and confidently convey research insights through storytelling to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience influencing business and product decisions using research and data.

  • Confident in taking the lead on research projects, particularly within trans-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Active learner, actively seeking to expand and share knowledge and experience in behavioral science and applied research to best support the evolving needs of the team.
