Who We Are:

At Calm, we have a simple, albeit BIG mission: to make the world a happier and healthier place. Through our website, blog, and app—filled with meditations, sleep stories, music, movement, and more—we’re redefining what mental care looks like in 2021 and beyond. With over 100 million users worldwide, 100,000 new users daily, and our growing partnerships with major companies, we’re having a positive effect on more and more people each and every day. And while the heart of Calm is digital, we are growing and expanding offline with a variety of products and services to help deliver on our mission of health and happiness, the world over.

What We Do:

We are a team of insights specialists that focus on finding insights relevant to driving business outcomes across the Calm organization. For us, the business problem comes first (what are we trying to solve?) and the analysis follows (how do we best solve this problem?). Sometimes the solution is straightforward and sometimes it is highly complex.

What You’ll Do:

As the Data Science Manager of the Growth team you will lead a team of data scientists who are working to drive user and subscriber growth for Calm around the world. You will do this by providing insights and analysis related to how our millions of users interact with Calm, convert, and retain. The output of our work most directly impacts the user acquisition, product and growth marketing organizations. This role also has significant executive exposure.

  • Manage, develop, and motivate a group of data scientists
  • Be a thought leader and go-to expert for how users engage and retain
  • Lead and conduct deep-dive analyses to identify needs and priorities of the business
  • Facilitate data-driven and informed decision making and prioritization
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships across Calm to drive our team's success
  • Drive outstanding performance both for this team and the broader product org

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years of analytics experience, ideally with digital consumer products or subscription businesses
  • Experience directly managing data scientists or analysts
  • BA/BS in quantitative field
  • Expert-level skills in SQL, R/Python, and statistical methods
  • Strong relationship management and executive presentation skills
  • Ability to extract insights from messy, ambiguous datasets to inform product development decisions
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into insights that are accessible to non-technical stakeholders, and prioritize work based on highest business impact vs technical complexity
  • Pragmatic: balance scrappiness and rigor

We believe that mental health is health, and every person should be considered in the discussion. That’s why we’re proud to be an equal opportunity workplace, committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local law.

Please inform Calm’s Recruiting team if you need any assistance completing any forms or to otherwise participate in the application process.
