What the Role Is:

Socure is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our US engineering team and build our data platform and core data pipelines. In our mission to become the single, trusted source of identity verification and eliminate identity fraud from the internet, data is at the core of what we build. It’s how we innovate and how we offer the most accurate Identity Verification on the market. With the company growing very fast and our customer needs even faster, the only way for us to succeed in our mission is to significantly scale how we work with data. 

We are in the early days of designing a data platform to accelerate all our data operations and unlock the creation of our future products, and we’d love you to join us and lead the way!

What You'll Do: 

  • You will manage a data engineering team of 7+ engineers. You will continue to expand the team and hire to support Socure's growth.
  • You will lead and work in close collaboration with our Engineering, Data Science, Infrastructure and Product teams to deliver data products to support various use cases.
  • You will shape and advocate for the best engineering practices including CI/CD, high-bar for data qualities, rigorous code reivews, etc. 
  • You will drive technical roadmaps to apply cutting-edge big data and cloud native technologies to build highly reliable and scalable data pipelines to deliver data insight with high quality and low latency. 
  • You will drive technical roadmaps to build a modern business intelligence platform, and partner with business operation stakeholders to empower data-driven decision making across the company.
  • You will be part of the Socure's engineering leadership team to shape a strong engineering culture of innovation, collaboration, and curiosities. 

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in managing a data engineering team of 10+ engineers. 
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • You are comfortable working cross-functionally to ensure technical alignment.
  • You are skilled in building highly performing teams. Managing a team in a geographically distributed environment is a big plus.
  • You are experienced in hiring the best talents in the market, and scale up the team to support Socure's growth.
  • You like to think at scale and design, develop and operate production data stores, pipelines and services that meet goals of low latency, high availability, resiliency, security and quality.
  • You develop an empathy for people and how they use your work and constantly think about improve your work to improve your customer productivity. 
  • You have experience in architecting and building data solutions in modern cloud environment (AWS, GCP ,etc). You have strong understanding of both data lakes and data warehouse. 
  • You have hands-on experience with tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Presto, Snowflake, or Airflow, etc.
  • You have strong data modeling skills in the modern big data environment. You are proficient in SQL. 
  • You are familiar in one or more of the programming languages such as Java, Scala, or Python, and are comfortable in conducting code reviews. 
  • Experience in data governance and compliance (GDPR, CCPA or PII) is a big plus.
  • Experience in NoSQL solutions such as Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB or Elasticsearch is a big plus.
  • You are experienced in coaching, and constantly providing candid feedback to team members to attain high productivities and support their professional growth.
