The Role:

STR is seeking a Software Engineer to join our tight-knit, growing Autonomy team. We design, develop, and demonstrate software to control distributed autonomous robots. The software ranges from early prototypes to fielded systems and will revolutionize the way that heterogeneous teams of autonomous robotic systems (e.g., drone swarms) assist humans in accomplishing shared objectives. The team operates primarily from our state-of-the-art autonomy lab in Woburn, Massachusetts.

We are seeking candidates at all levels - from established technical leads with proven experience to talented recent graduates seeking impactful Research and Development (R&D) opportunities.
Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Experience conducting R&D using Java or Python
  • A demonstrated ability to quickly adopt new languages, libraries, and technologies
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel for week-long field experiments 1-2 times per quarter and day trips approximately once a month

Even Better:

  • MS in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Experience with robotic systems, e.g., small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS/UAV) or Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV)
  • Experience using autonomy frameworks (e.g., ROS) or game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine)
  • Experience applying network protocols to communicate efficiently between distributed systems
  • Active Security Clearance
