Sr. Lead Data Scientist

About the role

Amartha is one of the top fintech players in Indonesia. We provide microfinancing to women entrepreneurs in rural areas by connecting them with potential lenders. We are looking for a technology leader to help us build a new data product that will revolutionize the financial industry in Indonesia.

This is a leadership position where you will lead a cross-functional team from data, tech, product, and business to build a new product based on big data and AI. You will direct the product development both from business and technical perspectives.

Collaborating with the business development teams and product leads, you will shape how our product business model evolves by designing go-to-market strategies and performing cost-benefit analysis. In addition, you will work with the tech and data teams to experiment with novel technical improvements by researching new potential data points and new methods to leverage AI and Machine Learning for credit underwritings.

Responsibilities

• Create in-depth analysis of product strategies and present them to stakeholders
• Driving cross functional teams to develop and experiment new products
• Set up team objectives and KPIs to make sure they are aligned with the company objectives
• Coordinate with business functions across the company to ML implementations to improve credit underwriting process
• Look for new opportunities of improvement by leveraging internal and external data points

Requirements

• 3+ years experience in data science or analytic works
• 2+ years experience in managing a team
• 2+ years experience in risk analytics or building credit scoring models
• Experienced in building data products with good system design from scratch
• Exceptional business acumen
• MBA degree from a reputable university is a plus
• Basic data science technical skills such as querying with SQL, scripting with R or Python, and statistical modeling
• Experienced in presenting data insights using effective data visualizations
• Ability to simplify and clearly communicate complex concepts to non technical persons
• Strong problem solving skills.
