Since entering the renewables market in 2010, Octopus Renewables has grown to become the largest investor of solar power in Europe and a leading investor in onshore wind. We currently manage an increasingly global portfolio of renewable energy assets. The operational portfolio includes over 250 energy generating companies, delivering revenue in excess of £250m pa.  
We are seeking a Power Bi and Data Analyst to join the Octopus Renewables team. Reporting to the Business Operations Manager within the Fund Management and Operations team, this role requires an individual who is skilled in building Power Bi reports who has a genuine interest in driving improvements in data availability, quality, and analysis alongside seeking continuous improvements in our reporting capabilities to meet the needs of various stakeholders including internal governance committees, senior leadership and investors. In an evolving world with growing and changing data sources, this role will be required to help transition to new technology and underlying data systems as we grow our business. 

What you'll do

  • Working with stakeholders, gather requirements and understand needs to develop visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards that wow stakeholders using Power BI desktop
  • Ensure that information is provided to regularly update external facing websites
  • Seek to improve existing reports, identifying improvements and efficiencies
  • Trouble shoot and respond to ad hoc requests
  • Lead on the update and maintenance of data to ensure data quality standards are met and that data is held, queried and reported on in a consistent manner.
  • Understand business requirements in BI context and understand and design data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights
  • Manage processes to onboard new renewable assets and collect the data required
  • Manage regular data validation processes for operational and financial performance of renewables assets
  • Able to connect data sources, import and transform data for business intelligence and able to work with data scientists and data teams

What you'll need

  • Experience of 1 or 2 years working with Power BI essential
  • Understanding of DAX
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data design, data modelling, data management, and data visualisation
  • Must be able to see the big picture and communicate insights - able to drill-down data and visualize data in the best possible way through charts/reports/dashboards.
  • Financially literate and understand P&Ls, Balance Sheets and Cashflow statements
  • Some knowledge of SQL would be beneficial
  • Ability to interact with business as well as technical teams
  • Strong communication and client management skills
  • Ability to learn and respond quickly to the fast-changing business environment
  • Ability to multitask and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Stay updated with advancements and best practices in design and development
  • Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach
  • Self-motivated, a team player and able to lead and initiate
