Are you passionate about artificial intelligence, enjoy high quality real-time graphics, and have an eye for detail? Do you want your work to influence the most successful gaming platform of all time?
Sony Interactive Entertainment has an extraordinary opportunity in the R&D department. We seek an ambitious software engineer to deeply analyze machine learning approaches, to understand their potential in tackling meaningful graphics problems. These graphics problems are in a wide space spanning from image and geometry processing, real-time rendering, and VR technology. If this interests you, please apply!
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing pre-existing machine learning systems, generating experiments to benchmark and propose optimizations to these machine learning technologies.
- With the support of other graphics specialists, assess the quality of these ML algorithms to research, develop, and verify groundbreaking graphics technology.
- Based on lessons learned, we provide opportunities to build and contribute alternative ML technologies.
- Critically analyze current real-time rendering, content creation pipeline, and VR rendering technology to find areas for improvement.
- Crafting testing plans, samples, and documentation together with other production teams.
- Building and improving infrastructure to simplify deployment of building, testing, or analyzing of deep learning or graphics software, specifically using containerization.
- Analyzing runtime performance data collected from a game or application running on PlayStation hardware, and writing succinct, understandable summaries of performance numbers and behavior observed (so team members understand performance trade-offs).
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience working with deep learning toolkits such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, or Keras.
- Development using Python (2 years min.)
- Machine Learning experience: Understanding ML theory, architectures, and research.
- Exposure to computer graphics, and a motivation to learn and fix major graphics problems.
- A creative personality that strives to analyze sophisticated problems and propose innovative solutions.
- Good communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Specialization in one of the following Machine Learning areas:
- Experience of working with Reinforcement / Imitation Learning, or GANs.
- Machine Learning applied to computer vision, image processing, geometry, animation, or other graphics topics.
- And/or a computer graphics specialist knowledge:
- Experience in implementing or optimizing rendering techniques such as deferred, forward+, shadow, or anti-aliasing on graphics API such as DX12, DX11, Vulkan, or OpenGL, using C++.
- Understanding of modern GPU architectures and 3D graphics pipeline.
- Knowledge of physically based shading, or global illumination and/or experience using ML Ops frameworks or DevOps in general:
- Hands-on experience with Docker and possibly Kubernetes.
- Strong experience with AWS services, including S3, Lambda and EC2.
