LondonOur London office is located in Old Street, London’s tech hub, home to a broad range of teams including Commercial, Marketing, and Product. We have large open plan spaces and a feature staircase connecting our 3 floors, encouraging our collaborative and open culture. We also have a big outdoor terrace where we can have lunch and host social events when the sun comes out!
Fully aligned to our Marketing, Product, Private Client and Customer Insight verticals, the Reporting Solutions team is part of a vision to build a highly autonomous and empowered central data function that moves fast to rapidly deliver impact on some of our most challenging and high visibility projects.
To achieve this we are building a full stack of capabilities, from managing our own infrastructure, creating data pipelines, to rolling out bespoke data products, all with the goal of unlocking significant value across a wide variety of initiatives.
Working collaboratively as a team and with our business colleagues, both here in London and across our other locations, you’ll be shaping the technical direction of a critically important part of Farfetch.
You will be a person that thrives in solving complex problems in a fast paced environment balancing tactical needs whilst driving strategically for a long term solution.
You will: Design and build scalable and robust data-pipelines in our multi-cloud data platform. Constantly evolve data-models to support a self-service culture. Work cross-functionally with distributed teams of BI, Data, Software Engineers and Data Scientists to create high-value data solutions. Work with your teammates to set and maintain development standards and practices. You will work cross-functionally with various teams, creating solutions that deal with large volumes of data.
This is the ultimate role for the detail-orientated engineer!Your opportunities to develop range from working directly with data engineers to grow technically, as well as  working alongside stakeholders across the group to grow commercially.

Who you are:

  • You have a BSC in computer science, engineering, information systems or other highly quantitative field
  • You are a developer in a flavor of SQL (T-SQL, HQL, etc).
  • You know the secret ways of the Python (Spark or Java are also ok).
  • You know all about pipeline deployments, scheduling and monitoring (Gradle, Airflow, Jenkins, Grafana, Prometheus).
  • You know the difference between a column store and row store database;
  • You’re a mover, a quick one, always calm under pressure and live to deliver value by solving complex problems... or simple ones which are often complex.
  • You have methodical approach and focus on building for scale and automation
  • You are a strong communicator regardless of format (email, documentation, presentation, discussion)You are able to collaborate with both commercial and technical stakeholders (technical product managers, development leads)
  • You have familiarity with structuring and writing scalable ETLs utilising dbtYou know Kafka’s first name is not Franz but it can carry a message.
  • You’ve worked with different technologies (Hive, Impala, Spark, Flink), you lived and you have a burning desire to share a war story or two.
  • You’re an advanced self-starter Google Cloud Platform hobbyist.
We are looking for a unique individual who is talented in creating systematic and automated processes and tools for reporting data and insights across the Farfetch group. You will have a huge impact and take our BI to the best in class system.
