WellSky is seeking a Staff Data Engineer.

A day in the life!

You will be responsible for the following:  

  • Perform as team lead for our Reporting team & product
  • Own technical vision for architecture of reporting product
  • Ensure reporting system health and scalability
  • Own Reporting team backlog and priority order, ensuring backlog is aligned with product roadmap. Defines sprint goals via prioritized stories
  • Maximize the value of work delivered by Reporting team-- working towards the strategic roadmap for their scope
  • Work closely with product & users to understand data requirements
  • Build & deliver critical dashboards to internal users and external customers
  • Build new data models & expand on existing ones using clean, transformed data from multiple sources
  • Participate in iteration planning meetings, retros and interviews
  • Scale the number of users and records ingesting in our data pipeline
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Perform peer code reviews

Do you have what it takes?

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Experience independently conducting data analysis to answer unbounded or ambiguous business questions
  • Experience working with ETL pipelines and/or data visualizations
  • Experience with a scripting language (Python, R, Ruby or Bash)
  • Experience with, and a desire to become a subject matter expert in, SQL and data modeling
  • Experience working with business intelligence platforms such as Looker, Tableau, PowerBI or another analytics tool
  • Enjoy collaborating with technical and non-technical teams
  • Security-oriented approach to all technical problems and PHI data access

Do you stand above the rest?

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in healthcare or social impact-oriented organizations
  • Experience working with data build tool (dbt) or another transformation tool
  • Have an interest in supporting data operations and managing ETL pipeline infrastructure (Great opportunity to influence direction and standards)
  • Experience or interest in people management
