Computer Vision and Deep Learning, Staff Engineer

OVERVIEW
As an engineer in the NIO Digital Cockpit team, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to apply leading edge technologies to revolutionize the automotive domain. You will utilize your expertise in computer vision and deep learning to develop and deliver solutions in perceiving and modeling the 3D environment inside and outside the vehicle. The resulting experiences will provide greater comfort, convenience, personalization, and safety for both vehicle occupants and the public at large.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, implement, and validate technologies and solutions related to computer vision and deep learning camera applications.
• Understand the capabilities of the embedded compute engine as related to vision and deep learning applications
• Ability to do tradeoffs between memory and CPU constraints and optimize performance in embedded computing environments.
• Create simulation of 3D worlds and camera optics to determine specifications.
• Develop computer vision applications such as driver monitoring, face detection, gesture detection, face recognition, video surveillance.
• Optimize performance of core vision and graphics libraries in embedded computing environments.
• Work in a dynamic cross functional global team to deliver digital cockpit platform for next generation autonomous and semi-autonomous cars.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in physics, computer science, computer engineering, applied mathematics or related field with a focus on computer vision or deep learning.
• 15+ years of industry experience.
• 10+ years of development experience in embedded QNX/Linux/Android operating systems
• 5+ years of experience applied computer vision, deep learning
• Experience building, training, and optimizing neural networks.
• Hands-on expertise with one or more Deep Learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc)
• Experience with C++.
• Familiarity with modern software development tools for source code control, unit testing, automated build, test, and deployment.
• A passionate, curious mind that is driven to find solutions to difficult problems. A capability to work either independently or collaboratively as projects evolve.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with graphics rendering software such as Blender.
• Experience with the automotive domain.
• Experience developing frameworks for distributed systems.
• Experience with camera simulation.
• Experience with machine vision camera applications.
• QNX Hypervisor integration and software development.
• Background with visual geometry and Deep Learning in a shipping product context
• Experience with GPGPU programming (CUDA / OpenGL / SNPE)
• 3D human face/body/hand tracking
• 3D reconstruction, depth estimation and scene understanding.
