The Enterprise Application and Data Architecture Manager will work as part of the Enterprise Services (ES) team. The position will play a key role in the Enterprise Services department and across Protective. The Enterprise Architect Manager will work with business groups and IT Leaders to develop and mature the enterprise data, integration/API, MS Dynamics/Power Platform and Master Data Management strategy by leading a team of highly skilled architects. The Enterprise Architect Manager will lead the team to incorporate data security patterns and best practices into the enterprise strategy. This role will be an active stakeholder in various Enterprise Governance Councils. This position will collaborate with other Enterprise Information and Application Architects to develop access patterns to enterprise systems and data. This role will be a champion of the Enterprise Services data strategy across the enterprise.
This position will be called upon to provide architectural direction to various Enterprise Services teams and mission critical work streams. The team leverages agile to execute work items in a fast-paced environment. The role will be responsible for building and maintaining an Enterprise Services capability roadmap. This position will be responsible for researching industry trends related to enterprise data/analytics, cloud and integrations patterns, incorporating best practices into the roadmap. This role will ensure the roadmap adheres to the strategic direction of the current enterprise architecture.
The ideal candidate for the Enterprise Application and Data Architecture Manager has a technical background and has experience architecting and developing scalable and comprehensive enterprise solutions.  The candidate must have a strong understanding API’s, Data, analytics, MDM, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Big Data.  The role must have strong understanding of database methodology, data analysis and business intelligence application.  The person will assist the team in designing solutions and overseeing the delivery of the solution. The ideal candidate will have experience in establishing sound technical best practices. The role also influences others in IT through sharing of specialized business and technical knowledge. 

Primary Job Functions

  • Develop Enterprise Strategy
  • Collaborate with Business areas and cross functional Enterprise Architects to fully understand business needs, provide strategic consultation, and translate needs into solution architecture and design roadmap.  
  • Actively participate in Governance Councils
  • Partner with developers, architects, other technical team members and database administrators to design and develop high performing data solutions and maintain consistent development functions.
  • Architect Enterprise Data Access and Integration Patterns
  • Consult with ES teams as needed to provide architecture considerations on legacy solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of a mature data stewardship process

Work Experience, Education, Certification/Training Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certifications / experience required
  • 15 + years Data Warehouse, API, System Design, Data Analytics, MDM, Dynamics
  • Experience working in an Agile environment preferred
  • Experience in the Insurance industry and/or LOMA coursework preferred; FLMI certification a plus
  • Experience working in a multi-tier data delivery environment required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to lead, influence and modify behaviors on a team comprised of IT and Business partners in support of enterprise strategy
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of team.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Data, Data Warehousing, MDM and analytics platforms
  • Knowledge of structured data, such as entities, classes, hierarchies, relationships and metadata
  • Knowledge of database management system (DBMS) including tables, joins and SQL querying
  • Ability to combine data from multiple sources when needed for analysis
  • Familiarity with and ability to document the use cases, business purposes and quality of the data
  • Understanding of data quality concepts, best practices and tools, with strong experience with data analysis techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to quickly understand how various elements relate to one another, having an end to end perspective of decisions and anticipating issues/roadblocks.
Salary and Incentives:Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $105,000 to $145,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance as well as a 401k match and a pension plan.
