OpenSea is looking for entrepreneurial Data Scientists to be founding members of our Marketplace Analytics team. They will work closely with the Marketplace Product & Engineering team to build a best-in-class system to optimize orders, match them, and offer them in a way that helps our buyers, creators, and sellers all achieve their goals while maintaining strong customer outcomes.
The ideal candidate will be deeply passionate about data & crypto and have a desire to deploy pioneering solutions against large scale problems. We are seeking candidates who are excited about wearing multiple hats and working closely with engineering and product to bring real solutions to market on fast timeframes, rapidly iterating from imperfect MVP through experimentation and development.

What You'll Do

  • Develop a deep understanding of OpenSea’s business and the larger NFT marketplace and leverage your experience to align our problems with the industry’s best solutions
  • Build and improve the optimization engines and predictive models that balance supply and demand in our marketplace, across all verticals and chains
  • Own these algorithms’ performance in production and continually evolve these services to deliver better outcomes over time
  • Model and forecast demand and supply to help us focus our efforts at building the most efficient, trusted NFT marketplace 
  • Be able to forecast these for different consumer segments and verticals so we can have the most performant view of the market
  • Help increase the speed and confidence at which OpenSea can make and execute on data-driven decisions through the development of simulation, experimentation, and testing environments
  • Work with Business teams to continuously refine and improve the systems to cater to ever-changing OpenSea needs

Desired Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, with a strong quantitative background and specific experience in: modeling programmatic buying exchanges; and/or forecasting for traditional marketplaces; and/or consumer product classification; and/or personalization and recommendation systems
  • Experience in SQL, Python, Airflow, Mode, and Spark
  • Experience communicating effectively up, down, and sideways across the company, with thoughtfulness around optimizing asynchronous communication and tailoring communication to different preferred styles
  • Strong cross-functional skills and ability to operate under ambiguous and fast moving problem spaces
  • Humility, humor, curiosity, resourcefulness and a relentless drive to grow and learn

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Dune Analytics, Nansen or other web3 analytics tools like Nansen
  • Web3 experience, a love for the community, and/or a degen portfolio
