Everstream Analytics is looking for a Platform Architect, Big Data to join our Product Development team and interface heavily with our Data Engineering team.  As a member of Product Development, you will join a dynamic team of people focused on our next generation product. We have an exciting opportunity to shape how we use data to build models and creatively present actionable insights to our customers which will advance strategic outcomes for the business. This role will partner closely with Product Management, Data Science, and the extended leadership team. 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Platform Architect is responsible for the strategic architecture, engineering, and deployment of our SaaS Big Data ecosystem.  We are looking for a strong Platform Architect who will work with our software development, data engineering, and data science teams to design solutions to meet business needs whilst moving us towards our target architecture, an enterprise-grade, internet-scale, and cloud-native Big Data platform targeted to be best-in-class in enabling our customers with mission critical insights and decision-making capabilities. The platform is designed to support all our analytics, data science, and data applications as well.  Everstream’s data platform already processes Billions of real-time data points to provide rich set of AI/ML SaaS solutions!  You will work in a highly collaborative environment building next-generation platforms and services using the latest and greatest cutting-edge & bleeding-edge technologies. You will have fun building cloud-native, enterprise-grade, real-time processing SaaS applications.

Principal Accountabilities

• Design, develop and run cloud native data platform and analytics SaaS services
• Own the data architecture and provide technical leadership to multiple teams
• Design and build large scale real-time stream processing systems
• You will guide the evolution and architecture for a scalable and secure data platforms
• You will develop data models, data flows, and integration patterns for the data lake, data warehouse, and usage data layers
• Build cloud native microservices architecture for data with focus on IaaS, metadata-driven frameworks and DataOps
• You will support data engineers and information architects in building conceptual, logical, and physical models of data architecture
• You will be involved in all project phases and drive data architecture plans
• Mentor other architects and developers in best practices

Basic Qualifications

• BS or MS degree (Computer Science or Math)
• 7+ years of experience as Platform architect
• Prior experience and passion for building large scale multi-tenant cloud native data platforms - SaaS/PaaS
• Extensive experience with Big Data and distributed systems
• System design skills. Ability to design large scale distributed systems
• Prior experience of building data platforms using Big Data stack (Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Hive) on public cloud
• AWS (Lambda, EMR, S3, Glue, Kinesis)
• Experience optimizing search with ELK stack
• Graph database experience, preferably Neo4j
• Strong technical skills in data warehousing, SQL, data modeling and working with large scale data warehouses cloud based platforms like Snowflake, Redshift etc.
• Experience with stream processing using Spark or Flink
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts and principles (consistency and availability, liveness and safety, durability, reliability, fault-tolerance, consensus algorithms)
• Deep understanding of Algorithms, Data Structures, and Performance Optimization Techniques
• Eager to learn new things and passionate about technology
• Comfortable working with Kubernetes, AWS, Docker, and Terraform.
• Understand micro services architecture patterns pattern like Service Discovery/API Gateway/Domain Driven Design etc
• Understand Serverless function and their relevant use
• Ability to work in an agile fast paced environment
