Data is at the core of Optasia's growth plan and the Data Engineering team is a significant contributor to data-driven automated decision making. We are currently leveraging and ingesting data from multiple sources from MNOs into our large-scale big data clusters and we are in the process of optimizing and modernizing our processes and infrastructure as the company scales.
We are looking for a Data Engineer with focus on Systems Administration to join our growing Data Engineering team.
As part of Data Engineering team in Optasia, you will work closely with system administrators to set up, configure, and maintain our growing big data infrastructure. Moreover you will be responsible for the efficient, scalable and reliable operation of our demanding data pipelines and workflows and contribute to Optasia’s success.

What you will do

• Operate, configure, and maintain our big data infrastructure
• Upgrade, reuse and install new data engineering technologies to facilitate the demanding needs of our demanding big data operations
• Design, develop and troubleshoot operational data flows, including data storage, transport, backup, and archiving
• Build and maintain CI/CD orchestration

• Support the development of our core libraries for batch processing of large volumes of data to the big data infrastructure
• Work closely with Data Architects, ML engineers and Data Analysts for the design, delivery and support of the company’s ETL pipelines.

What you will bring

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Software Engineering
• Working experience in software/data engineering and/or operations/DevOps/System Administration
• Strong understanding of operating systems, networking and software engineering principles
• Background in management of Linux based infrastructure
• Working experience with scripting languages, e.g. Python, bash, and/or any programming language, e.g. Java, Scala
• Experience with the Apache Hadoop ecosystem (YARN, HDFS, HBase, MapReduce, Spark). Experience with MapR is a plus
• Working experience with the deployment, configuration and maintenance of distributed systems and data/software engineering tools
• Experience with CI/CD

Optional (will be considered a plus):

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, e.g. Ansible.
• Experience in fluid virtual infrastructures such as containers (e.g Dockers, Kubernetes) is a plus
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Good knowledge of SQL
• Experience with data and ML flow engines and tools, e.g. Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi.
