SCOPE OF ROLE
In this role as a Cloud Data Engineer you will report into the Lead Data Engineer and will be based in our Data Science team. Throughout 2021, Evaluate has been investing in developing its own internal Data Science team. We have developed a number of processes and pipelines, and plan on making many more as the team continues to grow and expand its scope.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED
In this role as a Cloud Data Engineer you will:
- Design and implement data pipelines in AWS using Airflow for orchestration
- Design suitable data models for new data sources and structures in Snowflake
- Assist the SREs with deployment to production AWS accounts for completed projects
- Work with data scientists, implement data science predictive and NLP models in the cloud using task-appropriate tooling
- Work with the Lead Data Engineer, define and size new projects in Jira
- Assist other data engineers in the team on technical challenges
Requirements
WHAT IT TAKES
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
- You have experience running compute tasks in AWS as part of custom data pipelines
- You have great knowledge of AWS compute options including Glue, EC2, ECS, EKS etc
- You have excellent knowledge of relational DB technologies including Snowflake, MySQL
- You have experience of Python as used for data engineering tasks
- You have experience using Apache Airflow as an orchestration engine for data flow management
- You have the ability to architect and implement solutions for complex data engineering tasks
Nice to have
- Familiarity with biological or pharmaceutical data, and integration with complex data science models
- Knowledge of Tableau, especially efficient usage with large datasets
