As a Data Scientist, you will apply strong expertise in AI through the use of machine learning, data mining, and information retrieval to design, prototype, and build next generation advanced analytics engines and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners to define the technical problem statement and hypotheses to test. You will develop efficient and accurate analytical models which mimic business decisions and incorporate those models into analytical data products and tools. You will have the opportunity to drive current and future strategy by leveraging your analytical skills as you ensure business value and communicate the results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the structural health of railroad asset by applying machine learning techniques and statistical analysis over different collected data source
  • Development and deployment of highly optimized and efficient lidar perception models through field testing activities
  • Build end-to-end pipelines for asset maintenance planning and lidar planning
  • Identifying problems and coming up with long term and stable software solutions
  • Hands-on attitude toward problem-solving, including willingness to dig into terabytes of data
  • Support productizing and deploying solutions
  • Actively learn the business owner platform, products, and adjust efforts with that context
  • Communicate reports clearly to a variety of audiences, presenting comprehensive specs for stakeholders
  • Work independently with minimal supervision but high accountability
  • Plan and manage own work in collaboration with the team to meet assigned deliverables in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Requirements

  • MS Degree in statistics, computer science with 5+ years of relevant industry-level experience in predictive analytics
  • Relevant experience, including but not limited to: point clouds & lidar sensor processing, robotics vision, perception models development, predictive analytics
  • Advanced Python programming experience, with extensive knowledge and practical experience in using pythonic cloud points processing libraries for segmentation and manipulation of geometric data structure, e.g., laspy, open3D, arcpy, geopandas, pyproj, shapely, scikit-learn, scipy
  • Familiarity with predictive model training and deployment using Python ML libraries, e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, SHAP, is a plus
  • Experience with statistical analysis, regression modeling and forecasting, time series analysis, and data mining
  • Familiar with cloud services data analytics platforms and machine learning solutions, e.g., Azure DataBricks
  • Proficient in SQL query
  • Familiar with report creation in interactive visualization services, e.g., Power BI, Tableau
