Ardent is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team.  

This is an onsite role in Washington, DC area.

Position Description:

ArdentMC’s Data Science + Analytics Practice helps organizations and communities effectively use data to better understand threats to their constituents and infrastructure and to build more intelligent and resilient systems.

We are seeking a Data Scientist to create AI/ML models, and assist with providing data discovery, data analysis, data management, automation, and business intelligence services to a wide variety of clients in the public and commercial sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Data Scientist providing expertise in data science and analytics methods and approaches to solving a wide variety of business problems from public sector and commercial client organizations, especially US federal agencies responsible for national security, homeland security, and public safety.
  • Serve as lead statistician and applied math expert, working in cross-functional team alongside domain experts, data analysts, business analytsts, data engineers, ML engineers, and software developers to create AI/ML products and solutions.
  • Serve as lead researcher and investigator (especially if domain knowledge is relevant); devise and tes hypotheses and creatively combine data sources to identify useful metrics for business leaders
  • Help design, build, and deploy various AI/ML models and algorithms using data science tools/process/methods to ingest multiple sources of structured and unstructured data to tackle public safety-related problems
  • Perform deep dives and ETL of data sources to combine and transform data from multiple sources and domains to discover novel and actionable insights
  • Participate in full data lifecycle: collect, clean, prepare, ETL, analyze/exploit, model, and QC data; find new ways to automate this work
  • Contribute technical input to data standardization and data governance processes and policies
  • Continuously scan for and learn about new datasets and data science methodologies that will improve our services for our clients or enhance our technology products

Requirements:

  • S., M.S., or equivalent certification in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or highly quantitative field
  • 24 months’ experience designing, developing, and deploying advanced analytics and data science approaches and applications to advance customer technical requirements
  • Proficiency in one or more high level programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Julia)
  • Experience in data mining, statistical modeling, and advanced analytics techniques
  • Knowledge of applied machine learning, to include natural language processing
  • Familiarity with mathematical optimization and Operations Research
  • Prior experience supporting defense or intelligence community requirements
  • Knowledge of current trends and technologies related to Open Source collection and analysis of publicly-available information
  • Experience in database design, storage, and query optimization across a broad range of persistence technologies and data models
  • Experience applying software development best practices
  • Experience translating customer mission requirements to data-driven analytical products
