The Data Engineer will support our team of data scientists and partner teams across a dynamic technical environment. As a scientific team we are looking for a candidate excited to work with lifelong learners and striving for personal improvement. The Data Engineer must be self-directed and comfortable being involved in projects across multiple teams, systems, and products.

  • Create and maintain data pipeline architecture
  • Design and assemble large complex data sets and associated documentation
  • Maintaining a backlog of functional and non-functional requirements
  • Keeping data separated and secure across different regulatory environments
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business objectives, work with cross-functional teams, and create scalable data solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a relevant degree
  • 2+ years of industry experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields
  • Proficiency in English
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proficiency in Database and Data warehousing tools
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Comfortable working US West Coast business hours
  • Comfortable making GET / POST requests to APIs
  • Comfortable cleaning and prepping data for Machine Learning models
  • Experience querying data across high-complexity business environments
  • Experience with visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with data architecture, data modeling, and schema design
  • Active learner comfortable with independent study time/navigating ambiguity
  • Background in Extract / Transform / Load (ETL) process
  • Experience working with Data Scientists or in Scientific Research environments is a plus
  • Background in organizing data in Logistics and Supply Chain environments is a plus
  • Experience using Spark, Presto, Hive, and/or Airflow is a plus
  • Experience with data quality and validation is a plus
  • Modeling data for efficient dashboard performance is a plus
  • Comfortable presenting technical material to a business audience is a plus
  • Familiarity with GDPR and Data Privacy laws is a plus
  • Familiarity with real-time data processing framework is a plus
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus
