About the role:

Skydio is the leading US drone company and the world leader in autonomous flight. We leverage breakthrough AI to create the world’s most intelligent flying machines for use by consumer, enterprise, and government customers.  This Data Engineering role is critical in our journey to understand and improve how our drones perform and are used by our customers. You will be responsible for managing and advancing the technology we use for gathering and analyzing data from our drones. Your efforts will be key in enhancing our product performance and customer satisfaction.

How you’ll make an impact:
  • Create tools to help our engineers quickly evaluate performance of various components
  • Develop and implement visualization tools and dashboards for easy access to performance data across the company
  • Iterate and support the technology that collects and uploads the data from our drones
  • Collaborate with our software and hardware teams to define and refine important performance metrics
  • Identify areas where our product needs better performance metrics and suggest improvements
  • Encourage a metrics-focused approach in our product development for faster and more effective progress
  • Act as a key driver in the company’s safety and reliability efforts, utilizing data and analytics to identify and mitigate risks 
What makes you a good fit:
  • Demonstrated practical experience working with robotics systems
  • Background in data science and analytics, especially in a robotics context
  • Knowledge of databases and data processing
  • Strategic thinking in applying data and metrics to guide software development
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Ability to coordinate across different teams and maintain good relationships
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field
Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000 - 215,000*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.

*For some positions the pay may be dependent upon the individual's regional location.
