The role

This is a challenging and varied role, where you will be working with multiple business team leaders to create a new commercial landscape of opportunity.

As a Data Scientist you will be an industry expert in the advanced data analytics and anti -financial crime domain. You will be called upon to provide data analytics professional services and evangelise new analytics and detection solution opportunities with clients and prospects. You will work in conjunction with the business development team in APAC, at different stages of the sales cycle, to assist the business development team to close deals. This role involves working directly with the business development team, clients, product and development teams, in addition to a variety of other internal teams. Spending time with your colleagues in the various markets we operate in will be an expectation of this role.

What you will do

• Create new methods of financial crime detection using leading edge analytical techniques – from machine learning through to network visualization and data exploration.
• Providing pre-sales and technical support to the Business Development team
• Provide professional services to GBG customers who require advanced financial crime model creation and deployment
  • Experience in a similar consulting or technical role where there was client engagement
  • Experience working within the Hadoop ecosystem in addition to strong technical skills in analytical languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS. Specific knowledge of Spark and/or graph theory an advantage
  • Deep understanding of various modelling techniques and experienced with the build of machine learning models

• Execution of POC (Proof of Concept) sessions and documentation of POC results
• You will be working at the leading edge of analytics, applying a variety of techniques to detect financial crime – machine learning, statistics, network visualization and data exploration.

To help you be successful, we’re looking for…

• Experience:
  • Educated to degree level in statistics, computer science or advanced mathematics

• Experience in compliance and fraud risk management an advantage

• Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve set objectives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • A strong professional, patient and flexible attitude
  • Encourage a culture of innovation focused on adding value
  • Proven ability to prioritize and to work independently, managing one’s own workload
  • Fluency in English and any additional languages would be an advantage
