Senior Research Engineer (Multiple Locations)

**Considering candidates in San Mateo, Santa Barbara, or US-based remote**

Senior Research Engineer:  Work closely with the rest of the data science team, as well as with product and engineering teams, to incorporate complex software innovations into company products for the healthcare and pharma industries. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Convert research code to production-quality software to best leverage modern computing environments (distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU).
• Collaborate with data scientists to conduct research that enables expansive learning from large heterogeneous
  datasets
• Integrate state-of-the-art research into broader platforms and frameworks. Standardize coding best
  practice and software life cycle.
• Perform and execute code reviews to contribute to transforming research produced across the team into production-quality software.
• Work closely with the rest of the data science team, as well as with product and engineering teams, to incorporate complex software innovations into company products for the healthcare and pharma industries. 
• Provide mentorship to other team members and interns.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, or a
  related field.
• Four (4) years of experience as a research engineer, software engineer, or related occupation.
• Data science, machine learning, statistics and algorithms; research and development; analyzing research datasets; writing and deploying production-level code in Python and SQL; productionizing research algorithms into customer-facing software; cloud computing with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform; and contributions to code repositories with an active GitHub Profile.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience as a research engineer, software engineer, or related occupation.
