We're searching for a Senior Data Manager who will be responsible for leading the customer data, CRM and marketing technology functions of The Drum.

This role will define and manage the data strategy, technology vision and infrastructure needed to support effective lead generation, sales growth and customer success. The role will also support the research functions in the business.
Leading colleagues across multiple technology disciplines, it is primarily responsible for the planning and management aspects of the Data & Systems team, requiring a strong knowledge of sales & marketing systems alongside an ability to drive and inspire a team through significant business change.
As the leader of this function, the Senior Data Manager acts as a liaison for the team and the wider organisation, project managing cross-business projects whilst embedding technology understanding and industry practices across the sales, marketing and commercial functions of The Drum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and prioritising the workflow of the customer data, CRM, marketing technology and customer fulfilment functions, ensuring the short and long term objectives of the business and its divisions are being met.
  • Supporting the Leadership Team to translate the organisational vision into technology strategies.
  • Working cross-business with other divisional managers to ensure that the technology program aligns with business priorities, strategies and initiatives.
  • Creating and maintaining the technology roadmap in order to communicate the current and future technology goals to the wider business.
  • Overall responsibility for the sales & marketing technology stack, recruiting and collaborating with specialist team members to drive ongoing improvements in CRM, email marketing, marketing automation, social media, PPC and campaign reporting.
  • Driving Data Governance of The Drum customer databases, with responsibility for setting and maintaining high data standards, and ensuring availability of data for key functions such as Sales, Marketing and Events.
  • Working with internal divisions, external data suppliers and business partners to source new datasets that will grow and enhance the customer database.
  • Project Management responsibility on systems transformation, working alongside the Digital team and other divisions to drive further integrations and improvements across the wider Drum estate.
  • Serving as the internal champion for data initiatives.
  • Managing external technology vendors to ensure best-fit solutions are in place for the business, and that maximum value is derived from any licensing contracts and support arrangements.
  • Managing the data budget– with an ongoing obligation to analyse performance and return on technology investments.
  • Creating and managing the framework in which the Data team functions, adopting workflow and task management processes in order to streamline workloads and communicate progress to the wider business.
  • Responsibility to ensure any information is fully compliant with company policy and data protection law, briefing and notifying the business of its obligations and risks where necessary.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned to support the general purpose of the position’s function.


Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in marketing technology or business systems management.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing business-facing technology projects.
  • Experience administrating technology platforms.
  • Solid understanding of B2B Sales, Marketing, CRM, automation and web principles, with a strong appreciation for interdependencies and overlapping areas.
  • Strong digital marketing experience – covering email marketing, online advertising. marketing automation, social media, website reporting and campaign tracking.
  • Solid experience with database systems and processes.
  • Degree or professional equivalent in Business, Marketing, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields.
  • Good understanding of the publishing and media landscape is useful
