Help with building and operating company wide data platform, providing data warehouse, analytics and application services to other teams across the organization with some guidance. Have a basic understanding and passion to learn large-scale distributed systems from design to deploy. Make conscious choices and can explain the reasoning behind them or teach a teammate what they need to know to review code. The platform that was helped built would influence analytics at Rackspace and business decisions at Rackspace. Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline and broadens capabilities. Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes and customers. Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline. Uses prescribed guidelines or processes in analyzing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction. General instruction on routine tasks, detailed instruction on new assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributes to solution of straightforward business problems regarding operations, products, services or customers.
  • Analyzes information, asks questions and checks for understanding using standard procedures within the job family.
  • Applies acquired skills and experience to complete moderately complex, but routine tasks.
  • Continues to develop expertise, write fully-tested code to build ETL /ELT data pipelines on Cloud: participate in code reviews, active player in building cloud data solutions hadoop ecosystem, RDBMS, DW/DM, learn from deep architectural discussions to build confidence when building new solutions and migrating existing data applications on the cloud platform, troubleshoot and support production, addressing technical debt to improve sustainability, implement product features and refine specifications with Data Architects, resolve operational issues by collaborating with upstream support groups and other engineering teams, work with other teams to reduce friction in the data ingestion and extraction pipelines, and work with senior engineers to upskill.

  • Maintains internal relationships and determines need for external contacts.
  • Minimal advice/consultation to internal teams.

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of principles and methods within own job family/discipline.
  • Working knowledge of the company, products, services and customers.
  • Understands key drivers of success in functional area and uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
  • Non - Technical: Financial Management Stakeholder Management
  • Typically requires 2+ years of experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related technical degree required.

Physical Demands

  • General office environment.
  • Low levels of stress may occur when solving internal customer issues.
  • May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor.
  • No special physical demands required.
The following information is required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act and applies only to individuals working in the state of Colorado. The anticipated starting pay range of Colorado applicants for this role is $54,000-$70,500.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
